Cystic Fibrosis Treatments and Clinical Studies in Illinois
Advancing cystic fibrosis knowledge and care has always been a vital part of our mission at the Cystic Fibrosis Institute and the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Chicago. We are active in the worldwide CF community and participate in clinical research studies that test the latest treatments for CF. This includes federally funded National Institutes of Health research as well as studies of pharmaceutical-based treatment regimens.
Through his research efforts, Dr. Boas has been instrumental in helping to develop new and more effective treatment strategies. The lives of both those with cystic fibrosis and their families have benefited greatly from the commitment of our center and of those patients with cystic fibrosis we care for.
Much of Dr. Boas’ research has been published in numerous national and international medical journals. He also lectures on his research both locally and nationally.

CFI Center for Clinical Trials
The Cystic Fibrosis Institute is committed to making available all therapies to people with CF whether already on the market or in research trials. The Center for Clinical Trials is a means of overcoming barriers to research participation.
The CFI Center for Clinical Trials provides individuals with CF the opportunity to participate in Phase II, III, and IV clinical trials. The Center’s staff has extensive experience in research sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Boas is a board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. As medical director of the Center, he is personally responsible for oversight of all studies to ensure the safety of participants.
Our research coordinators have a vast amount of experience performing clinical trials and have successfully completed over 20 separate multi-year trials.
To overcome barriers and enhance participation for all who qualify for a study, the Center offers clinical trials with:

- Availability to anyone with CF who qualifies, regardless of where clinical care is given
